Cultural Resource Management
Connolly & Hickey is deeply committed to the protection, preservation, management and use of cultural resources. We believe that it is through the use and interpretation of an historic site that the public learns about its significance and understands its role in the cultural heritage of the region.
Connolly & Hickey recognizes that identifying and surveying such resources for listing on the State and National Registers of Historic Places is an important step in the protection of such resources.
With a greater understanding of a structure, its history, configuration and even its limitations, our experienced team can focus on analyzing its future use and interpretation. Such an analysis includes looking at the physical limitations of a site in order to determine suitable alterations and upgrades with regard to viability, feasibility and practicality. The use and management of our cultural resources is a critical part of ensuring our collective history and culture are preserved for today's and future generations.
Since 2003, we have assisted a number of our nonprofit and government agencies in obtaining over 6.9 million dollars in planning and bricks and mortar funding through the Garden State Historic Preservation Trust Fund and the various county-sponsored historic preservation trust funds. We prepare the grant application on behalf of the client or assist clients with the preliminary planning and cost estimating as well as review proposed application submittals.
